The weekend was busy, yet hugely enjoyable.
A Friday night spent touring unusual bars in West Village, including the kind of jazz club you see in movies (everyone crammed in around a tiny horseshoe stage), a Saturday at New York Red Bulls (terrible attendance, almost as bad result) and a Sunday up at 4am volunteering for the NYC Half Marathon followed by two back-to-back play off games with my football/soccer team which saw us finish second by one unfortunate own goal. I’m pleased to say I played really well, but gutted we couldn’t seal the win.
We did manage to win ‘bar champs’, which basically means we are the team most renowned for holding up our end of the ‘social’ side of the league - i.e. We drink a lot. This, combined with 2nd place, meant we won a $175 bar tab.
